Llega el invierno - Winter is coming

 Se viene el invierno y tengo que jubilar varios suéteres viejos y, de paso, reducir mi extenso acopio de lanas. 

Winter is coming and I have to send several old sweaters to retirement, and at the same time, reduce my extense yarn stash.

Por eso estoy trabajando en este suéter raglan sin costuras, con dos lanas diferentes que tenía: un acrílico negro mercerizado que encontré en una bolsa, y la hermosa Cisne Nuance que esta teñida en degradé y hace gran parte del trabajo por mí ;)

That´s why I´m working in this raglan seamless sweater, made with two yarns I had: one is some mercerized black acrylic and the other is the beautiful Cisne Nuance that is a tonal yarn and makes a big part of the job for me ;)

Tengo otro proyecto en las agujas que no está quedando como quería y todavía no sé si destejerlo o no. I have another project in my needles that´s not turning up as I wanted so I might frog it (or not).

Lista para el invierno - Ready for the winter

 Justo a tiempo para el comienzo del invierno, terminé el Alata Pullover en lana merino sedificada. 

Just in time for the beginning of winter, I finished my Alata pullover in silky merino.

¡Y por supuesto es hora de estrenar las medias gruesas de lana hilada y teñida por mí con tintes naturales, y que tejí en mis vacaciones de verano!

And of course is time to use the thick socks of handspun, handyed with natural dye yarn, that I knitted in my last summer vacations!

Un proyecto muy especial - A very special project

 

El pasado mes de julio tejí un proyecto muy especial... un regalo de cumpleaños para uno de mis actores favoritos. Utilicé una lana  hermosa y muy suave, Milana Cashmere Feel y me encantó el punto de la bufanda y trabajar ese hilado. Creo que el resultado valió la pena!! Patrón: Cerus Scarf de Hilary Smith Callis. Algunas pistas sobre el destinatario:

1. Usa muchas bufandas/chalinas en colores neutros o fríos (tiene un cuello muy hermoso y las luce muy bien)
2. Cumplió años el 19 de julio.
3. La bufanda viajó a Londres.

Last July I knit a very special project... a birthday gift for one of my favorite actors. I used a lovely,, very soft yarn, Milana Cashmere Feel, and I loved the scarf stitch and working with this yarn. I think the result was worth it! Pattern: Cerus Scarf by Hilary Smith Callis.

Some hints about the actor:

1. He wears lots of scarfs in neutral or cold colours (he has a gorgeous neck and they look great on him)
2. He had his birthday on July the 19th.
3. The scarf travelled to London.

Exposición Rural 2013 - Rural Exhibition 2013

 "La Rural" es una de las más grandes exposiciones de los productores rurales argentinos. Ayer fuí con mi esposo y pudimos disfrutar de un hermoso paseo. Aquí algunas ovejas premiadas.

"La Rural" is one of the biggest exhibitions of Argentina´s agro producers. Yesterday I visited with my husband and enjoyed a lovely evening. Here some of the prize-winning sheep.

And of course some shopping! A wool beret for my dad, llama gloves for my mom, gaucho trousers for my husband and some llama wool for me (by Lama Malal, one of yesterday´s winning producers).

Estoy en cama con gripe hace un par de días, así que aproveché para terminar mi Cadence Pullover. Es un sweater de escote bote y ajustado en el cuerpo (aunque yo lo hice más suelto y con mangas más largas que lo indicado). La lana es Quino de Lanas Naturales (100% Merino), un hilado hermoso para trabajar y además muy rendidor a pesar de ser grueso (usé 2 madejas del hilado, en total 520 g/570 yds). Recomendados ambos: patrón y lana!

I have been in bed with flu for a couple days now so I set myself to finish my Cadence Pullover. It´s a boatneck cut, fitted pullover (although I made it less fitted and with longer sleeves than suggested). The yarn it´s Quino by Lanas Naturales (100% Merino), a beautiful yarn to work with and very good yardage despite its thickness (I used 2 skeins of yarn, a total of 520 g/570 yds). I recommend both: pattern and yarn!

 Invierno! Tiempo de tejer. Ahora estoy tejiendo un Seelie Cardigan para mí con LHO Bariloche.

Mis primeras medias - My first socks

 Un proyecto que me llevó un par de días... estas medias súper confortables y calentitas en lana 100% merino. Acá en Buenos Aires está haciendo mucho frío así que necesitaba algo abrigado.

A project that took me a couple days... this super comfy and warm socks in 100% merino yarn. Here in Buenos Aires is freezing cold so I needed something really warm.

Ocupadísima!!! - Super busy!!!

Estas últimas semanas, tuve tanto trabajo que no pude hacer casi nada. Mi único proyecto es este saquito (DROPS short sleeve raglan cardi), que casi no tiene dificultad y se teje sin pensar.
Imagínense como estaré de ocupada, que hace dos semanas me compré una nueva máquina de coser que hace de todo, y todavía no abrí la caja!
These last weeks I have been so busy that I couldn´t really do anything else. My only project is this cardi (DROPS short sleeve raglan cardi), that almost knits itself and it´s a total no-brainer. Just imagine how busy I have been, that I bought a new sewing machine 2 weeks ago and haven´t opened the box yet!

Orquidea Fingerless Mitts - Guantes sin Dedos Orquídea

I started knitting a scarf with my handspun, so i decided it would be nice to make some matching mitts before, just in case the yarn was not enough (since the length of the scarf can always be adjusted). This is my improvised pattern, basically a tube with an opening for the finger. Enjoy!
Empecé a tejer una bufanda con mi lana hilada a mano, así que me pareció una buena idea tejer unos guantes haciendo juego primero, por si no me alcanza la lana (el largo de la bufanda lo puedo variar sobre la marcha). Este es mi patrón improvisado, básicamente un tubo con una abertura para el pulgar. Que lo disfruten!

Cardigan and Necklace - Cardigan y Collar

Been finishing some old projects... the first is a lovely cardigan knitted with a double strand of Milana Lana Tweed, very warm indeed! Estuve terminando unos proyectos viejos... el primero es un hermoso cardigan tejido con hebra doble de Milana Lana Tweed, la verdad muy calentita!

Last but not least, I received this gorgeous Chilean yarn from Maluaral in the Southern Hemisphere Yarn Swap. Can´t wait to transfrom it into projects. Thanks, Maluaral!
